Seratide

Can anyone tell me if seratide inhalers can cause cramps and muscle aches .

  1. Hi Mick and thanks for your post.
You may be aware that medications, in general, can be accompanied by side effects. Not all side effects affect all patients, and not all patients experience the same side effects.
Having said that, we do have community members who have shared they feel cramping and/or muscle aches when using different asthma medications. I am hopeful they will see your inquiry and chime in by sharing their own personal anecdotal experiences here with you.
In the meantime, I thought you might gain some additional insight from this article (published right here on asthma.net), which focuses on your very concern: https://asthma.net/living/inhalers-muscle-cramps.
I also thought you may want to bring up this topic with your prescribing physician and/ or your dispensing pharmacist.
    What do you think?

    1. Thank you Leon for your quick response .I just read the article and not having used inhalers in the past as this is a new experience since having covid being diagnosed with lung problems noticing lots of very painful leg cramps aching muscles and hand issues joints aching and popping.all seems to point to seratide. I will take this up with my gp to see if there are other inhalere i can try.

      1. Hi again, Mick - it's my pleasure - happy to help with some information!
There are a few things to keep in mind, if you'll bear with me.
Is the medication helping you? I hope that it is. If that's the case, then you may want to discuss some helpful suggestions (from the doctor), as to how to manage the cramps and aching muscles and joint issues. These can be fairly common. If the doctor is unfamiliar with some as to how to manage these 'side effect symptoms', perhaps he/she can suggest alternative medications that will be equally effective (for you), without the untoward side effects (as you suggested). There are many choices out there so that should be easily resolved.
Lastly, you will find there are different day-to-day solutions to the cramping, etc. They all don't work for everyone, but some do work for some folks. Let's address that after you've spoken with your doctor. I think, you will find that some of our community members have shared remedies that work for them. In some cases, suggested by physicians, in other cases, through trial and error and the sharing of information.
The first approach would be (as we've said), to follow up with your physician.
Please do check back and let us know how this all works out for you.
        Good luck!
