Wondering about Air Purifiers you wear around your neck?

I saw an add by a German Co. for an air PURIFIER with HPPA filters, that is fairly large, like a half moon sauce size and you wear it around your neck on the upper part of your chest below your neck; it sends purified air up to your face. Said 99% plus filtering. Has anyone tried this ? Maybe there are other brands too but this add seemed to have a new patent of some type.

  1. Hi '206' and thanks for your post and comment. This sounds to be fairly intriguing. I did a simple search (on the internet), but was unable to find anything like you described. I wonder how heavy this unit is. I also wonder how the unit can insure all the air the user breathes is filtered with no dilution by the surrounding air.
Perhaps others have a familiarity of this type of device.
If you can share the ad, for informational purposes, I would appreciate it.
    All the best,

    1. I can remember my doctor saying that a portable air filter was still a good option, even in an open space because it would clean the air immediately around me. But I never actually got one. Will be watching this topic with interest -- maybe this could be a good topic for our Facebook community as well! -Melissa, asthma.net team

      1. I have a personal air purifier. It is Oxy-Angel. I feel it helps me stay relatively healthy. Haven’t been to the hospital since 2019. It does bother my neck after a while but most necklaces do. I don’t go out much these day so I only wear it now on bad air days and when I go to the doctor’s office and church.

        1. Hi. Thanks for sharing this. Does it bother your neck because it's heavy or bulky? I am hopeful that in years to come the technology will get better and more comfortable. I'm still glad you have it, it probably helps a good bit. -Melissa, asthma.net team

      2. I wore a personal air filter on a plane from Dallas to Sydney Australia and then on the return trip last Spring. I did not get sick and there was lots of coughing and sniffles behind me. I don’t remember the brand but I managed a 16.5 hour plane trip without a mask and never got ill. Was it the filter? I don’t know but I would wear it again if I traveled.

        1. I am actually thinking of getting a personal air filter to wear to church or other places that have large crowds. Nobody wants Covid but I get really sick from colds, flu and even RSV. My asthma usually is so well controlled I sorta forget I have it but if I get sick. I really struggle.

        2. I'm with you with that way of thinking, shellzoo. Like you, my asthma is well controlled. However, when I do get sick, it can easily deteriorate into acute bronchitis, with congestion. That can be a struggle to recover from. Since you have the option, I would agree with you using the personal air filter in the places you've mentioned.
          Good luck!
