Is it asthma or something else? Medications are not working.

It's been 6 months since I am trying to fix my ashtma, I tried everything from montelukast to multiple inhalers, nothing is completely working though.

First I tried montelukast, worked like charm in the beginning but I eventually had to stop it because of severe side effects ( extreme fatigue and sedation, like could barely get up or be able to keep the eyes open, even stimulants like caffiene didn't helped, sudical thoughts, depression etc).

After stopping it, everything went downhill, I started having persistent ashtma all the time, it wasn't that bad but still easily 40-50% of my lungs were obstructed. I would say it was moderate persistent ashtma.

It would be there all the time no matter what, I would be there when I will take bath, or while or after eating, it's worse during day time or right before sleeping tho, sometimes it goes completely on its own ( quite rare but best feeling).

When I started montelukast again, it didn't worked that great like it did the first time I used it, I don't know why, but I was using inhaler everyday anyway ( sabalbuteral, sometimes budesonide 200 mcg + 6 mg formetorol.
Used it with DPI, didn't worked that great, used it for almost 1 month.

My doc then later priscribed me fluticasone 125 MCG + 6 mcg fluticasone Twice a day ( same DPI inhalation ).

I am taking it for a month now, I have to use it atleast 5 times and still barely gets any relief, sometimes rarely it does clicks and works, but most of the time it only reliefs some inflammation.

I got myself MDI with spacer today, I'll test it for next 15 days and see how everything goes, I hope this will work.

I also have allergy rhinitis 24/7, so I take anti histamines like fexofenadine, doxylamine, bilastine, citrezen etc pretty much every single day, they work amazing..!

I don't feel shortness or chest pressure everywhere in lungs, only when I try to inhale deep hard inside, I can feel slightly tightness, it feels like it's in alevoli, not sure where exactly it is, but is is definitely deep down inside the lungs, lower airways or alevolis.

I am only 19 years old, asthma is ruining my life.

Any thoughts? I'll go back to doc after 15 days, but I am wondering if this is even ashtma or something else?

I did specometry ( lung function test) twice, first it said I have only 60% lung function, next time after couple of months it got better at 76% after taking some inhalers.

TIA

  1. Sorry, it was fluticasone 125 mcg + 6 mcg formetorol

    1. I can only speak of my own experience but after being diagnosed with asthma and starting treatment, it took a little over a year of tweaking meds before I really started to feel better. I think our airway needs time to heal and it also took me time to get comfortable with how to use my inhalers. Talk it over with your doctor.
