Asthma and AI: How Are You Using It for Your Health?

Something has shifted in the last couple of years. A late-night symptom search now sometimes starts with an AI summary before it ever reaches a forum, a support group, or a doctor's office. A confusing lab result gets pasted into a chatbot before it gets a second look from a real person.

For a lot of us, AI has quietly become part of the toolkit we reach for when we're trying to make sense of a diagnosis, a new medication, or just a hard day.

We're curious what that actually looks like for you. Not in theory — in your day-to-day. Do you turn to AI first and a real person second? Does it help you walk into appointments more prepared, or does it sometimes leave you with more questions than answers? Is there something it just can't give you, no matter how good the summary is?

That's what we're trying to learn with the quick polls below. It'll take you a few minutes, and here's what's in it for you:

  • Your answers shape a real conversation. They're being brought directly into an industry panel where healthcare leaders are talking about what patients actually need in the age of AI — not just what a chatbot can technically do.
  • You'll see what the community says. We're planning a follow-up article that shares what we learned across everyone who answered, so you'll get to see how your experience compares to others living with similar conditions.
  • It's a chance to say what AI can't replace. If community, empathy, or lived experience matter to how you manage your health, this is your chance to make that case — in your own words, through your own answers.

Ready? Let's dig in.

Poll 1: How you actually use AI day-to-day

Poll 2: How much you trust AI health answers

Poll 3: What convinces you to talk to your doctor

Poll 4: What's missing from AI summaries

Poll 5: The biggest myth about how you use AI

Poll 6: Where you go after the AI overview

Poll 7: How often you rely on AI summaries alone

What’s next?

Thanks for taking the time to answer these. AI is changing a lot about how we manage our health — but it can't sit with you in a waiting room, tell you what a side effect actually feels like at 2 am, or say "I've been there too."
That's still on us, as a community. Your answers help make sure that doesn't get lost in the conversation. We'll be back soon with a follow-up article sharing what everyone told us.
