Anyone over 65 on Dupixcent? Concerned with possible side effects.

Afraid to start given side effects

  1. Hi. Good question. Dupixent is a relatively new medicine, although I do think it has been around a couple years now. We do have some articles about Dupixent, and I think a few from contributors who have tried it. I will post a link here if you want to check them out (https://asthma.net/search?s=dupixent). Since it is so new there have not been very many conversations from people who have tried it. I do hope others who have tried it will see your question here and provide you with a response. Another idea for you may be to ask your question on our asthma.net facebook page. You will see the link below. Or, for your convenience, I will post a link here (https://www.facebook.com/AsthmaDotNet). Is this a treatment that your doctor has prescribed for you? Or is this a treatment that you and your doctor are just thinking about? I am curious. John. asthma.net community moderator

    1. I use Fostair and think I may have oral flush

      1. Hi again, Nigel, and thanks for joining in this conversation, bringing up your concern about 'thrush'. I see you posted something similar, elsewhere on our asthma.net platform, for which I was able to provide a response. For your convenience, here is a link to that conversation: https://asthma.net/members/communitymember77071c/status/124090. I do hope you have an opportunity to look it over at your convenience.
        Warm regards,

    2. Hi. I can relate to how hard it is to start a new medication you are unsure of, especially when there are risks of side effects ... are there specific effects that give you the most concern? It might be useful to talk with your prescribing doctor about your fears and develop a plan for what you will do if you have side effects. That way you can feel more confident. Ultimately, the choice is yours to make. We can never know how a medication will affect us unless we try. If there are issues, it's okay to stop. And if it works well, then great! Regardless of what you decide to do, you have our full support. Let us know. -Melissa, asthma.net team
