Eosinophilic Asthma

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with e-asthma at 56. It really just came on in a matter of months. Anyone else with e-asthma? I’m now what most would call moderate-to-severe asthmatic and while I’ve made lots of progress with medications, this affects my life every day. Also, I’ve developed a very sensitive sense of smell. Not always triggers, but everything. I wanted to find out why and found this forum.

  1. Hi. Welcome to the community! You've definitely come to the right place. Eosinophilic asthma isn't as common as other types, but I feel like there are more people here with it because of the information we have available.

For now, I'll give you a link to our archives on the topic so that you can browse at your leisure:

As for the stronger sense of smell, that's new to me. I'm not an expert, but we've had lots of conversations in the past about the ability to "smell a trigger," like dust or mold, when other people can't. And that's not just in e-asthma! I think the body tries to adapt to protect us.

Feel free to ask questions or jump into a discussion. Glad you're here! -Melissa, team member
