I'm freaking frustrated tbh

Hello, it's Thyme. Long time no see! I hope you guys are doing ok. At this very moment I'm not doing great. Been struggling with severe symptoms from hormone changes around my period and I'm staying home from work today. Recently at the pulmonologist I heard that they were discontinuing Singulair at least at the office I go to, because it can cause a variety of negative mental health side effects including suicidal thoughts, which is unfortunate. I wish they notified me that they were discontinuing prescriptions of Singulair, rather than me being surprised at my last visit to the pulmo, but I generally don't like the pulmonologists I go to very much. I feel sorry for the people who suffer those side effects. I've suffered so many mental health problems including suicidal thoughts long before my asthma treatment, so I personally don't feel much of a difference on Singulair except exceptionally improved breathing, especially at night. I'm sorry people have to suffer such severe side effects just to breathe for one more night. Are they discontinuing it for you too, or is it just at the office I go to?

  1. Hey, ! Glad to see you pop up on here again, even if it's while you're feeling crappy.

This is the first I've heard about Singulair possibly being discontinued, actually. But the controversy surrounding it is still very intense and there are all kinds of warnings being sent around. That said, I can't find anything that says production is stopping, etc. Not even a hint. So it sounds like it's still out there, but maybe your pulmonologists' office has decided they won't prescribe it anymore?

This is definitely something I would explore further with your doctor. You deserve an honest explanation. You can also talk to your pharmacist and see if they've heard anything. If they haven't, and Singulair is still important to you, it may be worth it to pursue a different doctor. Even a virtual appointment with someone else could get you some answers.

I'm super curious about this, both for your sake and everyone else here. Keep us posted and I will definitely keep my fingers crossed that you can find a solution. I hope you're feeling better next week when your hormones settle down. Hugs to you, friend! -Melissa, team member
