Sneezing triggering asthma? 🤧

I have both allergic and non-allergic rhinitis and I'm prone to pretty intense sneezing fits. Immediately afterwards, my chest immediately tightens up, the wheezy asthma cough kicks in, and I have to use my rescue inhaler. It could just be the same trigger causing both, but sometimes I wonder - could sneezing itself be an asthma trigger, like laughing or coughing (e.g. when choking on food)?

  1. This is a great question. I'm not 100% sure about this, but my personal belief is that if a particular thing causes asthma symptoms for you, then it's a trigger, regardless of whether or not someone else experiences it.

That said, we do have a post from someone else who describes having a similar issue:

So, you're not alone! I hope that your rescue inhaler is helpful, at least. -Melissa, team member
