perfume

hey guys, I have asthma, and perfume is my nightmare. If I put one in, it irritates my lungs and I start coughing or sneezing, and even one time it triggers an asthma attack. Am I the only one? I wish they were perfume safe for me

  1. No, you are not alone. I have had 3 ER trips because of perfume🙁. I have had bad asthma attacks as well where I needed my inhaler and nebulizer. I read that aerosol perfumes are definitely the worst for triggering. They have droplets in them, and I can’t remember what kind. One of the worst asthma attacks I’ve ever had was because of my daughter-in-law spraying perfume in our bathroom, which then went into the hallway. All I did was walk-through the hallway once and it triggered me so bad I had to go to the ER. My daughter in law now looks for non-aerosol perfume. My worst nightmare, besides perfume is Axe body spray. I have had to use my EpiPen two or three times because of someone going nuts with it and I walk through the area they sprayed. I hope this reply helps you.

    1. Yikes, this sounds awful! Perfumes and scented sprays such as Axe can be extremely triggering. I'm glad that you have had your EpiPen available when you encountered the scents! -Lauren (Team member)

  2. Thanks for sharing! You are not alone in the way that you are feeling. I'm linking an article that discusses perfumed induced asthma triggers. I hope that you find this helpful! https://asthma.net/stories/perfume-induced-asthma All the best, Lauren (Team member)
