Springtime feels much worse this year.

I feel like I have either a sinus infection or the beginning of bronchitis. I will verify with medical. I just really wanted to vent. I can normally manage the seasonal allergies, but this is just too much.

I'm 62 and have severe persistent eosonophilic asthma. My asthma is allergy and exercise induced (go me). This week has been brutal. It started a couple weeks ago when I removed the external filter to my air filter and got a nose full of dust.

I thought I was ok until I had to start changing out computers at work. The manager of the department insisted they remain on the floor, due to appearance. I work for a public library, the public spaces are vacuumed regularly, but staff spaces, not so often, especially if wires are visible. They also don't dust their areas. Another major dust exposure.

I live in the south where everything is starting to bloom and spent a few hours outside. This takes me to Friday when the storm system that is wrecking havoc across the country started. Where I live, we were in the dry line, so just very high winds which brought smoke from wildfires in Oklahoma, pollen, and at least an inch of red dust all over my car.

This is just the beginning of spring.😵‍💫

  1. Oh no, Vicky!!! So sorry you've been knocked around by so many triggers and sick days. Dust is also my weak spot, so I can definitely relate to that (masks have kept me safe if I know I'm going to be in a dusty spot). I feel like the pollen and associated ickiness has been blowing in earlier and earlier anymore. Hopefully you can get over this hump and try to avoid too much trouble in the warm weather months.

Your post reminded me of a great analogy Andrea wrote about some time ago ... it's like every encounter with dust or another trigger fills your bucket a bit more, until it overflows and all hell breaks loose. Maybe this will shed some light on what could be happening in your situation:
