I am a moderate-persistent allergic asthmatic. The best decision that I made was to make sure that my dog was not allowed to sleep in my bedroom. I love my dog and consider him a family member, but I was tired of waking up every morning coughing and bringing up a lot of mucous. My nose was constantly running too. I had to explain to my husband that letting our dog sleep in our bed was a major asthma trigger for me. I'd have to use my emergency inhaler and my nebulizer to stop wheezing after I got done coughing up mucous. I felt bad about having to kick our dog out of the bedroom, but I had to do what was best for my Asthma. I also have an air purifier in my bedroom and got rid of the carpeting and put down a wooden floor. I had to make my bedroom a safe place and I noticed the difference immediately. I stopped waking up every morning having to cough up the mucous and I didn't have to use my emergency inhaler and my nebulizer. My nose also stopped running all the time too. I realized that it was the dog that was making my asthma worse. I know that I'm not the only allergic asthmatic that has pets, but my personal advice is to keep the pets out of your bedrooms and you will find that you will see a difference. It doesn't mean that you don't love your pets any less and you can still cuddle up with them when you're not in your bedroom. Just remember to put on clean pajamas when you go into your bedroom. I've been doing it for the past few months and it really helped my allergic asthma symptoms.
