excersising without an available inhaler?

for context, exercise has always been a trigger for me when i was younger, but i've been in remission for a few years so it has been no problem. my doctor thought that having an inhaler wasn't necessary, so i currently don't have one.
but in the last few months, my symptoms have been coming back (would be in the mild category on every scale), and i think that during exercise, they're even stonger than before. my chest starts burning up after like a minute of running.
i haven't been able to schedule an appointment with my doctor, but she's prescribed me montelukast earlier this year for when symptoms flare up. i've been taking that every evening for about a week.
about my exercising problem, it's PE at school, which is mandatory when i'm not sick or don't have an injury. i am most definitely going to tell my teacher about my situation, i just 1) would like to know how she might go about letting me do stuff (as also a bio teacher) 2) need a second opinion to whether it's genuinely SAFE or not.

  1. I can understand why you are trying to figure this out, especially when PE is mandatory. I think it is a good idea to let your teacher know what you have been experiencing, but since you are having the burning and increased symptoms, I also think it is really important to try and schedule an appointment with your health care provider when you can, before pushing yourself through any activities! I hope your teacher is able to modify activities for you and maybe trade out certain ones with something more manageable. I hope you are also able to get an appointment soon and get some answers from your doctor on what they think is best for you! Keep us posted! -Kimberli (Team Member)

  2. Having a clear exercise plan and knowing when to stop can make physical activity safer, especially when managing breathing symptoms or unexpected situations.

    1. Thanks for your helpful input! I'm glad that you know how to manage exercise and asthma. All the best, Lauren (Team member)
